Hi! I’m Sarah, founder and lead speech pathologist at Chit Chat Champs!

Let me tell you a bit about myself and how Chit Chat Champs began.

While completing a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioural Neuroscience at Monash University, I worked as a carer for children with special needs, an experience that motivated me to apply my understanding of the brain toward supporting child development and fostering meaningful engagement. Subsequently, I completed a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at Sydney University and worked with adults with additional needs before refocusing my career on paediatric populations.

Now, with 15 years’ experience as a speech pathologist, including 11 years specialising in children under seven, I have held positions in both private and organisational settings. In Sydney, I spent three years with a busy private practice followed by almost eight years as a full-time speech pathologist within the health team of the large daycare provider, Only About Children, where I delivered education to parents and educators across topics related to child communication development and alongside direct clinical work with children and with ongoing collaboration with educators.

Recently, I returned to Melbourne and established Chit Chat Champs, a mobile speech pathology practice that provides speech pathology assessments, therapy sessions and parent/educator training in settings that are already familiar to a child; home, daycare and kinder. It services the bayside suburbs of Melbourne (within a 6km radius of East St Kilda).

Chit Chat Champs is committed to using evidance-guided therapy approaches while considering each child’s unique character and interests, to develop personalised intervention plans that are distinctively fun and motivating to each child, to encourage growth and success.
